In a deft maneuver last week, Norway’s national tourism board converted US President Donald’s Trump’s blatant affront into a catchy promo for the country’s spectacular toilets.
The witty response comes after Trump called Norway a “shit house country” on October 25, adding that Norwegian immigrants would not be welcome in the United States. The reason? The Oslo-based Nobel Committee did not award him the Nobel Peace Prize.

“I didn’t get the Nobel Prize … So I don’t want anybody from Norway,” he said during a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, ahead of the US midterm elections. He had earlier described the Nobel Peace Prize decision as an “indelible stain” on Norway.
And so, the spotlight this month at Visit Norway is on beautiful toilets. Not your usual toilets but some of the world’s most remarkable lavatories under the title: “Are These the World’s Best Shit Houses?”
In true Trump fashion, the country’s tourism board notes: “Norway makes shithouses great again! These toilets are worth a visit, both when you really have to go – and when you don’t.”

The catchy campaign features photos and videos of Norway’s impressive rest rooms – some architectural gems set against breathtaking landscapes.
Commenting on Trump’s remarks, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said that the US president “knows very well that the Nobel Committee is independent. We have reminded them of that, if anyone is wondering, and that is still the case.”
Visit Norway invites visitors to take time and discover the country’s restrooms and scenery along the Norwegian Scenic Routes.
