Students at a middle school outside Thessaloniki staged a protest Tuesday, demanding the expulsion of two boys who allegedly used artificial intelligence to create fake nude images of five girls at the school.

The two 15-year-olds reportedly took photographs of their classmates and used AI tools to make them appear naked. The incident has sparked outrage at Chortiatis Middle School, where students and parents say the punishment handed down to the boys was too lenient.

“They took our photos and made us look naked,” one of the girls told TV100, Thessaloniki’s municipal television station. According to her account, one boy received a three-day suspension because the images had not been generated on his phone. The other was suspended for five days and moved to a different class.

But students say the penalties do not go far enough. On Tuesday morning, they occupied the school in support of the five girls, calling for both boys to be transferred elsewhere. “The punishment should have been harsher. They should be sent to another school,” one student said, arguing that the girls should not have to continue attending classes alongside the boys involved. “The girls have been through a lot these past few days,” the student added.

The school’s parents’ association has also called for the boys to be transferred.

School to Receive Psychological Support

A psychologist is expected to visit Chortiatis Middle School to meet with students and help them deal with the incident, Alexandros Koptsis, Central Macedonia’s regional education director, told a regional TV station.

The case highlights the growing problem of AI-generated intimate images, sometimes referred to as nudification, in which ordinary photographs are manipulated to make people appear naked. The technology allows users to create convincing fake images without the knowledge or consent of the people depicted.
