A search operation at a prison facility on the Greek island of Kos has led to the discovery and seizure of five homemade knives, according to authorities. Two inmates have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The operation was carried out in recent days inside the detention center, where prison officers conducted inspections of inmate areas as part of routine security procedures.

Two inmates arrested on weapons charges

Following the search, authorities detained a 55-year-old Greek national and a 48-year-old Iranian national. Both have been charged with violations of weapons legislation.

According to the official findings, one improvised knife was discovered in the area assigned to the 55-year-old inmate, while another was found in the possession area of the 48-year-old. The remaining three knives were located within the facility, but investigators were unable to determine ownership.

The two detainees, along with the case file, have been transferred to the local public prosecutor’s office for further legal proceedings.
