Two police blotter incidents were reported on Friday, a robbery-homicide on the island of Salamina, in the first case, and a house fire in Herakleion (Irakleio), Crete, that claimed the lives a 90-year-old woman and her bedridden 55-year-old son.

The body of a 75-year-old woman was found in her home on Salamina, with security cameras showing at least two perpetrators breaking into the residence.

Initial reports state that the unfortunate woman was hit on the head with a bottle, a fatal blow.

A manhunt was underway on the island, which lies south just off the coast of the greater Athens-Piraeus region, and is connected with the mainland via a ferry service.
Meanwhile, on Crete the bodies of the elderly woman and her son were found charred in an apartment building in Herakleion’s Mastaba district.

Another man, 60, identified as the son and brother of the victims, reportedly jumped off the building’s roof and was injured. Authorities are investigating the possibility of an attempted suicide.
