A new poll was released by the Viber Greece Channel asking Greeks what their view is on marriage. Over 55,000 votes were recorded, revealing what thousands of users believe about marriage, cohabitation and how best to celebrate.
How long should a couple know each other before getting married?
When asked how long a couple should know each other before getting married, more than half of respondents, 55% – said there is no fixed timeline that works for everyone, favoring a more open-ended, case-by-case approach to relationships. Another 15% went further, saying that actually sharing a home matters more than how long a couple has been dating.

Do you need to live together before you get married?
On the question of having lived together before marriage, 68% believed it is essential for at least 1-2 years, while 8% believe it is not necessary. Meanwhile, 24% believe that it doesn’t matter, as long as there is love.

How do you imagine the wedding of your dreams
Greeks’ romantic inclinations come through clearly when it comes to envisioning the actual wedding. Nearly half of respondents, 46%, said they would want a traditional, large celebration with 150 or more guests and an all-night party. Meanwhile, 31% said they would prefer something smaller and more personal, a gathering of fewer than 50 close family members and friends.

What is the Realistic Budget for a Marriage Today
On the financial side, the largest share of respondents, 44% – said the ideal wedding budget falls somewhere between 10,000 and 25,000 euros. A substantial 37% said they would opt for a modest celebration under 5,000 euros, a choice that reflects financial realism without dismissing the significance of the occasion.
