Μake us preferred on Google Greek Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou held a phone conversation with Israel’s Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen on Tuesday, discussing developments in the Middle East and regional energy cooperation.
The talks focused on the need to create alternative corridors following the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, the growing geopolitical importance of the Eastern Mediterranean, and energy cooperation between Greece, Israel, Cyprus and the United States through the “3+1” initiative.
The two ministers also discussed developments regarding the GSI electricity interconnection project.
Papastavrou and Cohen further referred to the establishment of the East Mediterranean Energy Center, which was signed last June at the Baker Institute of Rice University in Houston.
The ministers also discussed Israel’s assumption of the presidency of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum on August 1, succeeding Greece in the role.
