Rail replacement work is underway on Line 3 of the Athens Metro between the Elaionas and Monastiraki stations, prompting temporary nighttime changes to train services through Thursday, Sept. 24.

During the works, the stations Elaionas, Kerameikos and Monastiraki will close at 9:40 p.m., about two and a half hours earlier than the usual end of service.

Train services on Line 3 will operate during the works only between Dimotiko Theatro and Egaleo in one direction and Syntagma, Doukisis Plakentias and the Airport in the other.

Last trains before the closures

The last trains before the stations close will depart at the following times:

Toward Doukisis Plakentias:

  • Dimotiko Theatro: 9:20 p.m.
  • Egaleo: 9:34 p.m.
  • Elaionas: 9:36 p.m.
  • Kerameikos: 9:39 p.m.
  • Monastiraki: 9:41 p.m.

Toward Dimotiko Theatro:

  • Doukisis Plakentias: 9:30 p.m.
  • Syntagma: 9:49 p.m.
  • Monastiraki: 9:51 p.m.
  • Kerameikos: 9:53 p.m.
  • Elaionas: 9:56 p.m.

Airport services

The last direct trains between Dimotiko Theatro and Athens International Airport will depart at:

  • Dimotiko Theatro to Airport: 9:06 p.m.
  • Airport to Dimotiko Theatro: 9:10 p.m.

After the technical work begins at 9:40 p.m., Airport-bound trains will depart from Syntagma, while trains arriving from the Airport will also terminate at Syntagma.

The scheduled services will be:

Syntagma to Airport:

  • 10:02 p.m.
  • 10:38 p.m.
  • 11:14 p.m.

Airport to Syntagma:

  • 9:46 p.m.
  • 10:22 p.m.
  • 10:58 p.m.
  • 11:34 p.m.

Temporary bus service

To serve passengers during the closures, the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) will operate a temporary X24 bus route, connecting Syntagma Metro Station with Egaleo Metro Station.

The service will operate Sunday through Thursday from 9:40 p.m. until the end of Metro service and will pass by all three closed stations.
