Μake us preferred on Google The Mykonos Planning Office has been sealed for two days following a prosecutorial intervention to investigate dozens of pending cases involving unauthorized construction.
The office building remains closed, and employees do not have access to its files. According to Greece’s public broadcaster ERT, the intervention is linked to complaints and prosecutorial orders that appear not to have been resolved.
E-Planning system at center of investigation
According to the Mykonos municipal authorities, the issue is connected to a malfunction in the e-Planning system, which is used to register documents relating to urban planning cases, including unauthorized construction and complaints.
Mykonos Mayor Christos Veronis said police were ordered by prosecutors two days ago to seal the Planning Office so that the system could be examined.
He said he received a document the following day accompanied by the prosecutorial order. After the system was shut down, the order called for two employees from the Planning Office of nearby Syros to travel to Mykonos to conduct the relevant inspection.
Investigation to begin next week
A team from the competent authority is expected to travel to Mykonos at the beginning of next week in the presence of a prosecutor.
The investigation will focus on the files held by the island’s Planning Office and the pending cases that led to the prosecutorial intervention.
